About Us

Mission Statement
The Mount Pleasant Family Centre
is a place for families with young children
to drop-in and make new friends, learn new skills,
and receive support in times of need.

The Mount Pleasant Family Centre (MPFC) is a 'Home away from home'.
It's not a day-care but a resource centre for both adult caregivers and their children.
The Centre's core program is a family drop-in offered twice daily, four days per week. The fifth day is used for structured programs. Adult visitors may socialize or take part in a number of structured activities, while their children make use of the supervised play areas on the second floor and outdoors.
During the year, there are an average of more than 100 visits per day (40 adults with 60 children). Support and programs are provided by our staff members (click here to see our current staff list) and a number of volunteers.

The Mount Pleasant Family Centre Society (MPFC) is a Non Profit Organization. All of the money received through government grants, donations, fundraising and membership goes into running the programs we offer.
As a registered non-profit society the family centre has a constitution which states our purpose, and bylaws that outline the rules for doing business and how decisions are made.

Each year the Family Centre  holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where all members can hear about what the centre  has done in the past year and what our plans are for the future. Members are entitled to vote on changes and direction of the organization. This is also the time when we vote in our volunteer Board of Directors who represent the membership as a whole and make decisions on behalf of the members collectively. Our Board is typically made up of parents who attend the Family Centre, and members of the community.
