Financial Literacy is not about money; it is about empowerment.

We know that having a young family often brings with it financial worries and that these worries can lead to relationship breakdown, ongoing stress, poor (desperate) decision making and in general can affect the well being of the family.

We also know that Family Resource Programs (FRPs) are trusted sources of information and support for families especially those who may be more vulnerable. The relationship between family support practitioners and parents is significant, influential and motivating. The peer support and modelling available at FRPs is also of value when addressing life issues that directly affect parenting and familial well-being.

The goal of the webinar is to increase the capacity of family support practitioners to impart basic financial literacy information and resources to the families that they serve.

Topics covered:

  • Why bring financial literacy into family support?
  • Background on concepts of financial literacy and financial capability
  • What works and what doesn’t in financial literacy with low income families
  • Resources and information – workshops, trainings and online resources applicable to low income and marginalized families

Who should attend?
Anyone working with parents in programs or one-on-one.

This webinar is restricted to 25 participants, so register early to save your spot.  Clicking the link above will send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
