Finding quality child care can be a difficult task. Thankfully, there are folks who can help! Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre provides information, referrals, training and resources to families, individuals and organizations who are seeking the best care and early learning for children. They also publish a Parents' Guide to Selecting and Monitoring Child Care in BC.
Also, on Wednesday, October 15 during the afternoon drop in (1 - 3 PM), advisers from Westcoast Childcare Resource will visit us with information about how to choose quality child care, they can also help you customize a child care list for your specific needs, or provide information about current vacancies. We hope to see you there!

It costs a lot of money to support a family and everyone needs as much help as they can get. Today we have a bit of information about Education & Training Savings Plans as well as the Humanomics Youth Savings Account.
Families in British Columbia are encouraged to start planning and saving early for their children’s post-secondary education or training program. To help, the B.C. Government will contribute a grant of $1,200 to eligible children through the BCTES grant. You can find out more details about the grant here and you can watch a short informative video here.
The Humanomics Youth Savings Account offer is available for a limited time at participating Humanomics credit unions. These accounts are for 11 or 12 year olds. They must open the account in their own name, with a deposit of $25, or a recurring monthly deposit of $10 for three months. On the account's first year anniversary, there's a bonus of 20%*. By the third year, there's a bonus of 5%*. That’s up to $125 for free. You can find out more information on the Humanomics website (they also have a short informative video, too).

The text of the Proclamation above (for those interested):
Whereas Family Places (also known as Family Resource Programs FRPs) make a difference in the lives of families with young children and build healthy relationships and community networks;
And Whereas Family Places work with their communities on different levels to address issues around family support, settlement, parenting, early childhood development, isolation, advocacy, and community;
And Whereas Family Places provide opportunities for families to come together to learn, share, network, and support each other;
And Whereas Family Places are active in their efforts to find support to run their many family-focused programs and services;
And Whereas Families and caregivers with young children (ages 0 to 6), volunteers and community partners, come together to create healthy, caring, and inclusive communities for everyone;
And Whereas Our communities are better places in which to live when families have opportunities to form healthy relationships and build community;
