Currently on our Board: Caroline Provost (President),
Karen Di Venanzo (Treasurer),
Sarah Rudrum (Secretary),

Leanne Wood and
Diane Elliott-Buckley
My Name is Michelle Derrick.
I am a busy mother of two preschoolers and two yappy dogs. I am also a
Production Designer for international TV Commercials and the owner of
Kiddo kids on Main street.
At first I thought I might be "too busy" to volunteer for the board but
I am so glad I have! I have met some really amazing, energetic and
inspirational friends and feel that I am having a chance to give back to
the Family Center which my children have loved since they can remember.

Sarah Rudrum is a PhD
student at UBC, where she researches refugee women's experiences with
maternity health care.
She is also mum to one small boy, who is a big fan of the Mount Pleasant
Family Centre.

Hi, I'm Caroline Provost. I’m originally from Belgium but have
been living in Vancouver for the last 9 years.
I joined the Board 4 years ago because I immediately felt I that this
place would change my life and it did.
Even while I’m currently staying at home full-time with my 3 children,
being a Board member gives me the opportunity to do ‘something else’
from time to time. I’m constantly learning new skills and meeting
fabulous people and for me it’s a fantastic way of giving something back
to the Family Centre that means so much to me and my family.

The Mount Pleasant Family Centre is a non-profit independent agency with
charitable status, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Every year, at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), members of the Mount Pleasant Family Centre can
elect candidates for the Board.
Besides following our constitution and bylaws, the Board also sees
the bigger picture and helps to steer the MPFC along. This work is done
through regular monthly board meetings, short term planning, and work in
committees. Our committees range from fundraising, planning the Holiday
and Canada Day Party to making
plans for the future in our Strategic Planning Committee.
In addition to fulfilling the legal and financial
requirements for the Corporate Registry and the Society Act of BC, our
Board members enrich our programs in all sorts of ways. They are
enthusiastic supporters of our Centre’s work, support our staff and act as
Family Place Ambassadors in our community.
On our most recent AGM (Friday September 17th,
2010) we voted on our new Board, and we are very pleased to welcome 5 new
members onto our Board. Please find attached also a copy of the
president's report.
If you have any questions about volunteering on our Board, please feel free to contact Caroline by
email
or check our FAQ-page.
