Executive Director End of Summer Report

Dear Members,During the summer we noticed a significant drop in attendance in the playroom, but we totally understand given how crazy hot  it was upstairs during those smoldering high temperatures!  Just realizing that the cooler days of fall are approaching reminds us that the playroom will soon be buzzing and staff will happily be welcoming new families and returning members.Over the summer months I have been very busy writing grants, recruiting new Board members, and establishing a strategic planning process that will be underway this month. During this process we will be focusing on the physical capacity of the organization and determining if a new building will be our first priority! I would love to hear from our membership and welcome your comments, thoughts and ideas.  If you would like to send me an email&nbspThis email address is being protected from spambots. With Kind Regards,

Board Member of the Month
Felicity Turner was new to Vancouver. Her husband was working long hours and she was usually on her own with her young daughter, Beatrice. She was also 12 weeks pregnant with her second child.
Felicity and Beatrice were both having a difficult time adjusting to their new life. They felt homesick and lonely, and Felicity was scared of having another baby in a new country without family or friends around to support her.
That’s when she discovered Mount Pleasant Family Centre Society. She found a warm and caring space where her daughter could play and make friends. She attended parenting classes and gained new skills and new confidence for being a mom.“I can honestly say that I’m a better parent because of the Family Centre, thanks to the parental courses, staff and the community connections I’ve made,” says Felicity.
