Mount Pleasant Family Centre Society
We are a non-profit society offering a range of resources and services for parents, caregivers and their young children, pre-birth to 6 years. A Home Away From Home, Mount Pleasant Family Centre is a place for families with young children to drop in, make new friends, learn new skills and receive support in times of need.

Thank you to all our families who have purchased or renewed their memberships. Your support is greatly appreciated. In order to meet our fundraising goal, we need 333 families to purchase/renew their membership. We continue to accept payment via cash, cheque or credit card. The annual membership is $45 for the year (which breaks down to only 86 cents per week!) and expires at the end of April 2018. For more information, please talk to any staff at the Family Centre.
Please be aware that the gravel is very slippery. We are working on finding a solution to this problem. In the meantime, if any family member can donate some time to shove/sweep the gravel back in its place, please let us know. We have a shovel and some brooms readily available in the bike shed. As well, parents and caregivers should monitor/prevent the children dumping the gravel on the blue surface, wooden benches and walkway.

The Family Centre has a plot in the community garden near the playground and we are looking for parents who are interested in exploring growth and development from a gardening perspective! Ask Flora for more information.
The children in our CCC playroom had lots of fun playing with two police officers last week. The visit marked the beginning of the new partnership between ISSofBC and the Vancouver Police Department. Two Constables Wes Fung and Tyler Nadon will be on site every Wednesday to begin a variety of newcomer related programming around policing in Canada and to ease any traumatic experiences related to police or army officers that the families possibly had in their home countries or refugee camps.
Our family centre participated in the 5% day organized by Whole Foods Market. On April 5th, 5% of their sales was donated to Vancouver Farmers Markets for the Nutrition Coupon Program. Last year, thanks to the partnership, more than 40 Circles of Care and Connection families who came to Canada as refugees, were given nutrition coupons to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms and producers. The families always look forward to our field trips to farmers' markets which, as they often say: "remind them of home".
Congratulations to the Winner of our WestJet Gift of Flight - Winnie Ma of Richmond BC. Winnie's ticket was purchased to raise money for the Mount Pleasant Family Centre Society annual fundraiser Savour Our Neighbourhood.
