StrongStart program @ Nightingale Elementary School

            !!! OPEN HOUSE on Friday September 10th 2010 from 10am to 11.30am
Program resumes on regular days and hours on Monday September 13th, 2010 at 9am

The StrongStart program is a free early learning program for preschool‑aged children accompanied by a caregiver. The drop-in at Nightingale Elementary School is open Monday to Friday from 9 to 11.30am and can be found in a classroom on the south-east corner of the school lot. The easiest (stroller) access is through the gates on the corner of 12th Avenue and St-George Street.

Inside the beautifully decorated classroom, Natalya and Clara are welcoming preschoolers to participate in different activities. The first part of the daily program consists of free play. With a a sand table, a play kitchen, a dress-up corner, building blocks, an art table etc… time will fly.
Around 10.30am it’s snack time (parents are asked to bring fruit) followed by circle and story time.
Because the StrongStart program is meant to help children get ready for success in Kindergarten, the circle time is a little bit more extended then the one you may be used to in the drop-in at the Centre. There is more emphasis on alphabet, numbers or days of the week for example, but there are also lots of fun songs and stories. Afterwards, if weather permits, it’s time for outdoor play in the adjacent playground.
Children feel very welcome in this great program; the ‘regulars’ all have their name tag waiting for them in the hallway and staff keeps track of birthdays etc.
Feel free to join Natalya and Clara and check out yet another great opportunity for our children to learn while playing and for ourselves to connect with other parents or caregivers in our neighbourhood.

Facilitators are Natalya Smirnova and Clara Kim.
